I've been shadowing at the reference services desk at MPOW for a little over a full academic semester now. I've learned a lot about addressing questions in a short time frame and about referring questions to the appropriate subject or technical services librarians when needed. I've seen lots of new technology implemented in the past five months, including: Instant message software meebo.com, a new KIC scanning unit to scan rather than photocopy materials from the reference area, and the use of MySpace to try social networking with our patron base.

When I was at the reference desk yesterday, a student was quite excited to learn from our marketing table tents that we do have IM connections available to help remotely connected students with quick reference questions. I'm guessing we'll get some good word-of-mouth from this student, so maybe we'll start getting more questions through this resource.

Well good gravy! I thought for sure I would have entered a blog post here by now. I guess I got caught up using another blog software and that's where it all landed and stayed! I'll see what I can come up with for this account.
